James Comeaux, LCSW is the Vice President of Operations, East Division for Access Health Louisiana (AHL). He graduated from Loyola University, New Orleans in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He then obtained his Master of Social Work from Tulane University, New Orleans in 1990. Licensure was obtained in 1992. His 14 plus years post master’s work experience in private psychiatric hospitals, not for profit residential settings, out patient mental health services, directing clinical programs, managing a physician practice and providing social work services in a medical surgical hospital makes him uniquely qualified to lead the behavioral health team. Comeaux currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Mobile Health Clinics Association, as well as on the Board of Directors for Luke’s House Clinic in New Orleans.

Gyl Wadge Switzer, MPA, MPH Directora Ejecutiva
Gyl Switzer es nativa de NOLA y pasó demasiado tiempo en Texas antes de regresar a la ciudad que ella ama. Gyl tiene una licenciatura (inglés y ciencias políticas) y una maestría (salud pública) de la Universidad de Tulane. Además, Gyl tiene una Maestría en Asuntos Públicos de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, Escuela LBJ de Asuntos Públicos. Antes de comenzar como directora ejecutiva de Luke's House, Gyl fue directora ejecutiva de una organización sin fines de lucro que fomentaba la seguridad de las armas en Texas. Otra experiencia incluyó 10 años como defensora de la salud mental, trabajo en departamentos de salud pública estatales y locales, investigadora de derechos civiles y otros puestos profesionales. Gyl está completamente comprometida con los problemas de justicia social, incluida la atención médica para todos.

Edith Romero, MHA Directora de Programas
Edith es originaria de Honduras, tiene una Maestría en Gestión de la Atención Médica de la ONU y es una apasionada de la salud comunitaria, la justicia reproductiva y la defensa de los derechos de las mujeres. Antes de su nuevo cargo, Edith trabajó como pasante en Luke’s House, donde co-dirigió clases de cocina saludable y conectó a los pacientes con atención a largo plazo. Edith también es co-líder de un proyecto de investigación sobre barreras para el cuidado en nuestra comunidad Latinx y recientemente fue seleccionada como Campeona Juvenil de Justicia Reproductiva por Rise Up, una organización del Instituto de Salud Pública. Edith está entusiasmada por formar parte del equipo unido de Luke’s House y por apoyar varios proyectos de educación para la salud de nuestra comunidad.

Natalie Arias Trabajadora de Salud Comunitaria
Natalie Arias es la Trabajadora de Salud Comunitaria en Luke's House gracias a la Methodist Health System Foundation. Le apasiona trabajar junto a nuestros pacientes y hacer que se sientan cómodos y seguros de buscar la atención que necesitan. Ella está emocionada de trabajar aquí y de ayudar a hacer de nuestra clínica un lugar acogedor para cualquier persona que entra por nuestras puertas.

Crystal Roa Intern
Crystal, born and raised in New Orleans, is an intern at Luke's House. She is an undergraduate student, at Loyola University, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Spanish. She is excited for the opportunity to work here at Luke's house where she navigates patients, helps them to feel great about themselves, and make a change in their lives.

Walter Cruz Intern
Walter has been an intern at Luke’s House Clinic for a little over a year. He is an undergraduate student, at the University of New Orleans, majoring in Biology. His role at Luke’s House is to assist in health education, allowing our patients to learn and feel more comfortable in attending to their own health. He is excited to teach our patients how to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Lizmari Alcántara, B.S. Intern
Lizmari was born and raised in Puerto Rico from Dominican descent. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from LSU with plans of pursuing medicine in the future. When she moved to the US, she acknowledged the struggle some members of our community face when accessing medical services which motivated her to get involved to help close those gaps. She is excited to join Luke's House's team as our new Clinic Intern and assist our underrepresented members of the community towards accessible and long-term health care.
